Kolstad goes down on the pavement, ambulance arrives, people start heading for the hospital, trying to contact friends on the way. Its a sad story, Clare said. I just pray for everyone involved. In the 2 1/2 months since that tragic night, when a confrontation involving three young men turned tragic, with Kolstad, who had been a leader on the Mavericks football team for three seasons, ending up fighting for his life after allegedly being assaulted that caused a traumatic brain injury. Clare, who will be a senior on the Minnesota State football team this fall. and many of Kolstads friends and former teammates made many visits to the hospital, at first hoping their friend would survive, though the reality was that he might not.
